What happens if the people don't drill you acrylic at the nail shop?
I have noticed that when they drill that my nails don't last long. I'm no saying that they don't know how to do there job, I'm just saying that they can do better.
What is a good home nail drill for my acrylics?
I don't want to spend too much money. I do my own acrylics and need a decient nail drill. I need an experienced nail person who has used these tools and can recommed something.
I agree with the girl who answered before me. Dremels do everything. Nails, workworking, pesky sharp edges on just about anything...and if you have a dog, they're great for its nails too. Just be sure to change attachments between jobs. If you don't want to spend the money on a dremel, I've found that nail clippers and a few files (course to fine) works just fine and are easier to control than a drill. You can find a dremel or a knockoff at most home improvement stores and walmart even carries them. For good files, I like Sally Beauty Supply.
can acrylic nails be applied without drilling the nail bed?
I had acrylic nails put on and then had to take them off mainly because I didn't know what to do after the acrylics had grown out. My nails are really soft now and need special polish to keep them from splitting. I loved my acrylics but don't want my nail beds being drilled - can you get acrylics without your nail beds being drilled?
YES!!! I used to have acrylic nails and enjoyed them (but my own nails grow very well now in my old(er) age. lol) But, I put a stop to it when my nail tech started using the drill/file. It destroys your nail beds and you could end up with permanent nail damage!! I have creases that go up the center of 2 of my nails as a result of the 'drill'. Take the time and let your nails fully grow out from the damage before thinking about having more nails put on. I wouldn't even suggest nail polish...just let them breathe for awhile. They will get stronger and should be fine for more acrylics. I would also TELL your nail tech to use a nail file and not the drill! They use it because it's faster...but I always preferred the old fashioned nail file. Good luck!! ~Kendra Leigh
Is it possible to have maintain acrylic nails without using the drill during the manicure?
All most every nail salon uses drills to file b/c its fast, but when you actually go to cosmetology school you learn to do nails with files only. (well in Oklahoma you do) But there are salons that do acrylics with regular files and dont use drills, just expect to be there a little longer for a fill or new set, but it could be worth saving your real nails.
