Hair straightener?

I turned mines on (conair) and left it there for 20 mins, but it never heated up. and yes, I did turn it to the highest it can go.

Anyone know a straightener that works really good (and doesn't damage your hair a lot) at an affordable price?

CHI Hair straighteners

Farouk CHI 1 Inch Ceramic Flat Hairstyling Iron
From CHI
Buy new: $73.29

Product Description

Chi Original 1" Farouk CHI Ceramic Flat Iron Model GF-1001 The CHI can be considered
one of the most versatile Hairstyling Irons on the market today. The CHI's ergonomic
design allows the user to flip hair up or curl it under with a twist of the wrist.
The CHI is ideal for straightening and smoothing the hair while the ceramic plates seal
in natural moisture. It's great to use prior to a Dry Haircut. The ceramic coated paddles

extra long swivel cord to prevent tangling, the CHI has a concealed on-off switch inside
the handle to prevent accidentally turning the unit off when in use. The heat paddles are

*drumroll*

CHI!! :) yaaaaaaaay!

doesnt damage your hair and only cost about 130!?(or less)
:)

conair infiniti. I dont know if you had that but its probably the best cheapest straightener you can find. Its about 50-60 dollars and It has tourmaline in it which wont damage hair much and keeps it straight better

well for me.. conair is the best. how old is ur straightener?? maybe u should get a new 1 or somethin

CHI is really the only one that does not damage hair, but it is reall pricey

If you go to Sally's they have affordable and good Ceramic Flat Irons..it dosen't have to be a real expensive one like a chi for it to actually work....ALL Straightners damage hair, No matter what brand it is.

babyliss ceramic
It's a little expensive, but extremely good and would last you forever! And it's the one usually used at salons...

What is the best hair straightener/flat iron you have ever used?

I own one, yes, but it doesn't keep my hair straight as long as i want it to. It's a Conair Cearmic Straightener and has 25 setting, not didgital, and also has a turbo heating.

I straighten my hair but i doesn't stay straight. My hair is just a tad above shoulders, only because i did not like the layers in my hir when i had gotten it cut that way and bought a straightener so i could flip the ends or just straigten it. So i got it cut to the very first layer in my hair. I'm growing it out again to maybe try layers again. What can i do to keep my hair straighter longer? Is it the straightener or is it my hair?

My hair is now onyx wth red tips, like i said, a tad above the shoulders. It's in the middle between thick and thin, in a medium range. Is it my hair or is it the straightener? Is there anything i can use to keep my hair straighter longer? Please help me out! Any other styles i can do with a strightener?

You have the right straightener. It could be your hair. I straightened my hair almost everyday because I couldn't stand having fluffy hair. When I started doing that, my hair was dead & the straightener couldn't even work it's magic anymore.

Go to the salon & get your hair deep conditioned about once every 2 or 3 months. This softens your hair so it's back to the soft hair it was when you were a little kid. If you keep this up, you can straighten your hair as much as you want & your straightener can do it's job just fine. Just make sure your hair isn't dead. If it does start becoming dried up again, go to the salon & do it all over again.

I don't have to straighten my hair that much anymore since my hair is soft & flat now from all the deep conditioning. But now, I don't have to burn my hair by putting the straightener on number 25. It'll work even on setting 5 or 10.

What is the best hair straightener to use or good techniques for straigtning hair?

Right now i have a Metropolis hair straightener. I've heard that the Chi hair straightener is good or Bed Head straighteners. I have medium/long wavy hair and whenever i straighten my hair it never turns out as straight as i want it. Usually there's pieces going out a little also. I want a piecey look, since my hair is already layered but i'm not sure how to create that look. Thanks :)

I have very long, wavy-to-curly hair, and my favorite straightener is the John Frieda straightener, and a Remington Wet-to-Dry Flat Iron (I always wait until my hair is dry, though). It comes in a wide pump. I get the normal one; the one for super kinky hair doesn't seem to work as well on me.

When you're shampooing, make sure to use conditioner afterwards. Next, towel-dry your hair and comb the tangles out. (I never try to blow-dry my hair unless it's got a few damp patches in it. If I try to do my hair when it's really wet, I end up with frizzies.) Then apply the straightening balm. Comb that through from the scalp to the ends. I also use something from Garnier Fructis that repairs damage and it helps guard against tangles. (It comes in a little round pump. I think it's from her Length and Strength line.)

Once all the products you're going to use to prep your hair are in there, then take a paddle brush (A big, rectangular brush) and blow-dry your hair in sections. I start from the front and work all the way to the back, then do the same thing on the other side. I suggest using an ion hair dryer. As soon as each section is dry (it MUST be completely dry), I give it a shot of the cool air setting. Aim the hair dryer down when you're drying it and it'll help guard against frizz or flyaways. Do the drying in long, smooth strokes.

After your hair is dry, it still might not be completely straight. (Mine never is.) That's when you use a flat iron. I go over each section (1-2 inch sections), again front to back, twice. I use the paddle brush to keep the sections from tangling up or kinking or anything. The flat iron is key.

After the flat ironing, put a VERY tiny amount of a shine serum in the palm of one hand, rub your hands together and give your hair a quick once-over with it. I find those serums go a really long way in keeping your hair tangle-free. And they smell nice. Don't use too much, though, because they can get your hair really greasy-looking. Half a spritz in the palm of your hand or a little more than a drop will do the trick. They help against frizz, too, if you're prone to it. I sometimes rub a dryer sheet (Bounce for me) over all my hair, too, to keep it from getting static-y.

Finally, use a texturing balm to get the piecey look you're talking about. I don't use one, but I know that there are a lot of them out there.

Going from wavy-curly is a very high-maintenance hair style. My hair is waist-length, and it never takes me less than 45 minutes (not including the initial half-air-dry stage before I start adding products) to do my hair.

How to decide the best hair straightener?

I am confused with all the hair straighteners and the temperature that is to be set while ironing. As of now i am using Revlon with ceramic technology. I heard that not all the hair straighteners are good for hair. Can any one please help me with tips to choose the best hair straightener.Do we need to take any extra care while using straighteners. Is it must to use conditioner when we use ironing products. I normally use pantene or tresemme brand conditioners.

you want to get GOOD hair irons because a lot of the cheap ones, (no offense to your Revlon one) claim to be ceramic, when in fact just the coating of the iron is ceramic and the underside is still the horrible metal for your hair.

Basically get an iron based on your hair type. Me personally I have VERY thick, coarse, unmanageable hair, so I have the CHI Turbo 2 inch ceramic flat iron which is phenomenal. It cost $200 bucks but it was the best investment I ever made.

Of course hair irons aren't good for the hair. Neither is blow drying or constant washing of it. You need to limit how often you flat iron it, I only flat iron my hair 2x per week.

buy products that prevent against heat damage, again CHI makes some great products, Biosilk silk therapy works VERY well.

I use Mane n' Tail shampoo and conditioner and it deep conditions very well and my hair is always so smooth shiny and detangled.

It is a MUST to use conditioner even if you AREN'T flat ironing. But if you want to flat iron, shampoo and conditioner as usual and then get out and apply a heat syrum, straightening balm that protects against the heat damage. For that as I said already I use Biosilk syrum, about a nickle sized amount for my entire head, and then i blow dry my hair and then use Chi Thermal spray which protects against the damage of the flat iron.

What is a great steam hair straightener for a great price?

I need a steam hair straightener, a hair straightener that's actually good for the hair. I'd really like the ionic type with ceramic or tourmaline plates but anything healthy for the hair and a great price would be great. For curlers I know the right brands, for steam straighteners I really don't.

Thanks in advance.

Try Conair, I have one and it works wonders! :D
