do you for sure have to buy something. i keep hearing different stories.
hey girl! Yeah its free i got my makeup done there for prom last year! Unless its different where you are! They just recommend that you buy something! the only problem is they fill up really fast so call today and book an appointment, you might wanna ask how much they charge if there is one at all! good luck!

I think you can only get your makeup done free at MAC when they offer it--such as a time when they are premiering new colors---...you have to pay otherwise, but I don't think it's that much
like $20-30

I would say if you follow etiquette...purchasing something is a good idea. They are spending a lot of time on making you gorgeous...but then that takes away from them working to sell the products which is how they make their money...? so yeah...I'd say buy a few things...but no it's not required.
If there's an actual MAC store where you live (not a department store) give them a call and see what they say...

I'm guessing your in the states, but in the UK it works like this...
if you want to get your makeup done by someone at MAC (at a department store or MAC store) you make a booking and pay a deposit of around £10 that deposit can then be used to pay for any items you wish to buy...
I think of it this way, I get my makeup done for the price of a lipstick that I would need to buy anyway, after all you need to be able to touch up your lippy during the night...

Is there an inexpensive makeup that is similar to Mac?
Mar 06, 2007 by SallyBeans | Posted in Makeup
I've been using Mac makeup for years now but it's so expensive and we are trying to save money in any way we can. Is there a comparable makeup that I can just pick up at Walgreens or something?
There is the new Loreal line HIP which is designed by the same theory (MAC stands for something about color, HIP stands for High Intensity Pigments) Problem is that the HIP colors aren't really as extensive or fun as MAC. Also the new lines from Max Factor are pretty fun. I too am a recovering MAC addict and since it killed my budget, I recently got into selling Mark Cosmetics. Its really fun products and I get a great discount, and I even make a little extra money. If you have any questions E-mail me!

Does it cost money to get your makeup done at MAC or Sephora?
Sep 20, 2008 by viva la juicy | Posted in Makeup
For Homecoming, my friends and I want to go get our makeup done all-out at the MAC counter at Nordstrom's or at Sephora. My mom and I are huge MAC customers and wear basically all-MAC makeup, so I would have no problem buying a product from them, but I just wanted to know if either of them charge money for "makeovers" or just reccommend that you buy a product that they used on you.
i got my prom make up done at sephora and they didn't charge or ask me to buy anything....i did because it was my prom and need touch ups for pics... and they aren't as busy as make so if you want it done right and on time they are the place to go to.... but with make you have to buy at least 40 dollars worth and its not a for sure thing if they will see you or if you will be seen on time and finish on time at mac... also mac is one brand and it is a good brand but sephora has over a 100 brands.....

Where can i find barbie loves mac makeup?
Feb 15, 2009 by Cheryl A | Posted in Makeup
I only just started getting into mac, but the barbie collection is not on there website anymore. I would really like to know if there is anywhere else i can i find the barbie loves mac collection, or individual makeup from the collection.
I am a makeup artist, and I work for Mac.
Unfortunately if you didn't buy it when it came out, it's going to be VERY hard and expensive to get a hold of because it's been discontinued for quite a while now.

Your best bet is to try EBay, or register on MakeupAlley.com and see if someone has any Barbie <3s Mac up for swap items. I also found some items on Google Shopping, however they were insanely priced:

What will I be asked to demonstrate in my MAC makeup interview?
Oct 15, 2008 by fashionicon04 | Posted in Makeup
I have a MAC interview on Friday and I noticed in the interview area they don't have a lot of make up there. I also noticed that the girl who was interviewing while I was waiting to speak with the hiring manager did not come out to get any makeup from the sales floor. I hear they usually ask for a day and a night time look or a specific look. I'm guess that they may ask me to demonstrate their new promotion "Red She Said" or "Sheer Minerals"? Am I right or wrong?
i dont know, relax and you will be fine, it makes sense that they will ask you to use their new products but be prepaired as they may not make that obvious choice, it would help to brush up on their new products anyway and show them you know how to use them and your keen :) yuo'll be fine! check out this great website i found, its all about make-up and building self esteem, its written by a make-up artist and the top blogs that i feel in love with on the site are:
1) top five best products
2) top five worst products (i loved this especially as it had alternatives to the bad products that are good)
3) top five makeup mistakes people make (i loves this coz it tells you whats wrong with it, how to avoid it and even shows pics of celebs getting it wrong!)
4) my personal favourite blog is the one about airbrushing on celebs and models its great! it shows before and after pictures, as i said its about self esteem about realizing no-one is perfect!
check it out, i hope you love it as much as i do!

The chances of being photographed in a function is highly suitable. To avoid the everyday Trini criticisms like “Validation the state of she” or “Daz what she wearing”, getting consenting for a fete can be an conclusion in itself.
If you want to look topper from move to toe, prepare to throw away some cash on a new kit. Unless you are splendid enough to wear the same tackle twice, you will have to exterior out for something that shows a barely skin, can represent up to the rigours of wining and recovers well from belt spillage.
Hot pants, mini skirts, and barring dresses are usual item of clothing, but this flavour we notice that rompers and blithesome bohemian tops and leather leggings are a hot mode item.
Nicholas McFarlane of Jebelle explained that vibrant sweetmeats colours are criterion for the Carnival condition. Accents like beads, sequins and studs fizz at night. “For Carnival, off-the-roll up one's sleeves tops and dresses are a big seller. Halter-back tops are also great. Everyone is making use of their colours for Carnival. Brilliant yellow, red and orange are dominant colour choices.”
There is a rebirth of hippie dash with tie-dye fabrics, flowy shapes and entangled paisley and beading. “We are seeing
