Makeup brushes?
Am planning to buy mac or bobbi brown makeup brushes...are they any good? i really aint got any good ones! do they make a big difference? also i have one bobbi brown mini brush for eyeshadow...it seems good! i bought one to test it!
In my opinion, the kinds of brushes you use make a HUGE difference! I used to buy really cheap ones from Target and Walgreens and recently started investing in the more expensive ones. I now have the whole collection of MAC brushes! The reason I love them so much is because they are handmade and can last up to 10 years if you take care of them. They are costly though, so I reccomended you make a small purchase of some eye brushes first (those are a definite NECESSITY to me) and then see how you like it from there. If those turn out to be too pricey for you, I realllly like the Sonia Kashuk brushes from target-those are almost as equally good to me! If you take my advice, here is the list of MAC brushes i just cant live without, and I hope you try it out because once I first tried it, I never used anything else!!!!
1. my number one favorite shadow brush is MACs 224 tapered blending brush- it's amazing...just buy it! you can use any flat brush (a cheap one even...) to pack in the shadow to make it vibrant and then use the 224 brush to blend it out
2. MACs 242 flat eyeshadow brush (ideal for smaller lids) or a 252 brush (for larger lids)
3. MACs 217-another blending brush! but it's slightly smaller than the 224, so it makes it easier to control.
4. MACs 187 or 189 (i cant remember which one it is) but its a duo fibre foundation brush. It's really expensive but in my opnion it's well worth it! But i listed this last, because my eyeshadow brushes are much more important to me!
Hope I helped! =)
The black tips on my makeup brushes are coming off with the makeup. How do I fix?
For Christmas, I got a set of brand-new brushes (foundation, powder, blush), all of which are white with black on the ends.
The first time I used the foundation brush, when I went to brush it over my face, the black came off with the makeup and left this dark smear all across my skin.
I don't know why they're doing this. Could I wash them and it stop? Or buy new brushes?
I would suggest washing them with a bit of makeup or nail polish remover. Then rinse them well with water and try them again.
What makeup brushes should I get to start my collection?
I am trying to start a collection of makeup brushes, and so far, I have zero (ha ha). I just need the basic brushes to use and possibly where to get them. Also I don't want them to be crazily expensive. Like I know a lot of MAC brushes can be pretty pricey.. so, you know I'd like some good quality brushes but not overpriced.
I'm a big fan of the Sonia Kashuk line for Target. They're of good quality (usually goat hair) and are usually only $10-$15 a piece. When you can, stay away from synthetic materials. Animal hair is better quality and much softer. Some good basic brushes:
-powder brush
-all over eyeshadow brush
- eyeliner brush
- lip brush
- foundation brush
A basic 5 brush set is a good place to start.
How often should you change your makeup brushes?
I was curious to find out how often other people change their makeup brushes. I have been using clinique makeup for several years now but lately I've seem to be having some sort of allergic reaction on my skin (mainly cheeks). I don't believe its the makeup since I never had a problem with it before. I am thinking it might be my makeup brushes (i.e., blush and powder brush). Can these brushes, if not changed often, cause a reaction? For instance, too much buildup on the brush. Thanks.
Clean them with baby shampoo once a month. About every 3rd month, use a brush cleanser that will also sanitize (MAC has one, the Sephora one may also do this).
Pour a bit of the cleanser or shampoo in your hand. Swirl the brush around in it for a few moments. Rinse. If it still looks dirty or the water was dirty, then do it again until the water runs clean. Smooth out the bristles and place it on a papertowel overnight. Voila!
What are the essential makeup brushes you use or recomend?
Just the basic brushes one would use for everyday makeup application - nothing too fancy. What are the essentials, the brushes everyone should really have for the easiest/most effective makeup application? Thanks!
I like a slanted eyeshadow brush and a big blush brush. I use a good wedge sponge for my foundation.
