is it necessary to have a vacuum in a manicuring station?
Iam looking into studying to become a manicurist. Iam looking around for tables but man they're expensive!...so I decided that maybe I can just buy or make my own table but then that is why I ask the question of the whole vacuum thing. Hopefully someone has some great answers Thank You.
What was the worst manicure experience you've ever had?
I'll share mine with you, even though it still gives me the shudders. I had a manicure coupon in one of those little neighborhood coupon books that people send you, so I thought I'd treat myself one day during lunch at work.
The shop was basically empty so I got attented to right away by a little asian guy that gestured me to his station. I sat down, put my hands in the cleaning solution and started to relax anticipating the pampering my digits were in for.
I then noticed that his right thumbnail was abnormally long. And pointy. And slightly yellow.
During what should have been a nice relaxing experience, I was horrified that he used this long nail AS A TOOL for scraping underneath mine, and also using it to push back my cuticles. You just don't know the shivers that ran up and down my spine, or how my toes curled up in my shoes every time he used his friggen fingernail.
I should have said something, but I was kind of in a catatonic state. I still have nightmares!
You should report them to the health unit. that is not only unhealthy but against anything i was ever taught. Note: If they don't have a certificate, they did not go to school and learn about germs!
As a manicurist, my worst night mare was a client that came in with such dirty nails, I was digging food and garbage out from under her horrendously long nails. I felt myself gaggind and had to excuse myself for a moment, so i didn't lose it all over the place.
Would you go to a Nail Salon if it was in a house?
I was thinking about opening a nail salon with a friend and putting it in my house. Would you go to have your nails done in someones house. I was going to make it completely professional with a manicure station and pedicure station. Whats your opnion?
I have my shop in my home as well as it works out perfectly because I have no booth rent to pay....but the only downside to it is that you have to be careful about who you let into your house cause ppl will steal your products especially nail polish not saying that that doesnt happen in a "real" shop....just be careful because if you dont have your house registered as a business and state board comes in(unknowingly)you could be in trouble
Can fungus live in nail polish? Basically, if I get a manicure, could I get a nail fungus from the polish?
I have heard that people can get various infections if the nail salons don't clean the tools correctly. I know of a place that does clean their supplies and even disinfect and scrub the foot soak stations, but I was wondering if the nail polish itself can harbor fungus. Does anyone know if it is too toxic, or can it allow fungus to grow?
its very unlikely you will get it from the polish because the main ingredient is ethyl alcohol which will kill bacteria and/or fungus. You could very easily contract and infection from the files/drills/buffers/ ect. you can purchase your own kit for probably around 5 bucks and they will set aside tools for use on only your hands. Its definitly what i would reccomend because many people contract staph infections from manicures and those can be very serious.
